Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has expressed optimism in the chances of the Black Stars qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, Canada and United States of America.

The Black Stars made light work of Chad and Madagascar, with 8gls and two clean sheets Coach Otto Addo’s side lead the standings in group I with 15 points from 5 games.

Stephen Appiah who is currently the vice chairman of the Black Stars management committee believes Ghana is almost there.

“With the win yesterday (Madagascar 0-3 Ghana), yes we are almost there. Because you look at points and the matches that we have and the performance that our boys have shown, yes we are almost there”

The Black Stars are hoping to qualify for the World Cup for a fifth time. They are well on course after securing back-to-back wins in the qualifiers this month.
