Chairman of the Parliamentary select committee Mr. Wisdom Kobena Woyome has expressed optimism in under-fire Black Star head coach Otto Addo despite calls for his sack ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifier next month.
Regardless of Otto Addo’s failure to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations Mr. Woyome believes the German trained cannot afford to fail for a second time.
“I do not agree with those who were calling for the sack of Otto Addo. Of course, I admit that he didn’t do well after he failed to qualify the Black Stars for the African Cup of Nations, but I don’t want to believe that he would want to set another bad record by failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup”, he told Asempa FM.
After a poor start to the qualifying campaign, Ghana recorded back-to-back wins against Central African Republic and Mali. The Black Stars will resume their qualification games against CHAD and Madagascar next month.
Coach Otto Addo needs to ensure the four-time African Champions qualifies to their fifth World Cup. Failure to do so per all indications will warrant a sack.
