Black Stars Management Committee chairman, Dr Randy Abbey has backed the incoming Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, insisting that he has what it takes to succeed.

Mr Adams’ nomination was confirmed on Tuesday in the third batch of the ministerial nomination. Mr. Kofi Adams appears to be a surprise pick among bookmakers who were rooting for former Sports Minister Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye to retake his seat.

However, Dr Abbey, who also serves as an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) speaking in an interview said Kofi Adams possesses the requisite skills as the sector minister.

I firmly believe that Kofi Adams is the right person for the role,” he told Original FM.

He possesses excellent managerial skills and I have no doubt he will excel in his position,” he added.

Kofi Adams is expected to face the Vetting Committee and if approved, he will replace Mustafa Ussif who served as Sports Minister since 2021 under the New Patriotic Party government led by Nana Akufo-Addo.
