Supporters of Accra Hearts of Oak were highly critical center back Kelvin Osei Asibey following their narrow 1-0 defeat to rivals Asante Kotoko on match week 13 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Asibey turned from hero to villain in injury time after he presented Albert Amoah a clear goalscoring opportunity at goal. The former Karela United center back’s unsuccessful attenpt to clear the ball with an overhead kick led to their doom. This clouded his incredible performance all afternoon. Additionally he was even replaced by Albert Amoah as most valuable player of the match.

Supporters in an interview with Sirebenmedia.com indicated they were disappointed with the results. They also advised defensive stalwart Kelvin Osei Asibey to erase errors in his game especially when he is playing against Kotoko.

If he continues to do it they will say it is because he is a Kumasi boy. He is a fantastic defender but mistakes in a high profile game is non-negotiable. You can even be shot for doing  this in match ups between Al Ahly and Zamalek”
