President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has disclosed a $100,000 investment into Colts football as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen grassroots football in the country.
The funding, which falls under the FIFA Forward Program, is aimed at supporting Colts teams across Ghana by supplying footballs and providing other essential needs critical to youth football development.
“We’ve decided to invest $100,000 in Colts football to supply footballs and provide essential support,” President Okraku said. “Another $100,000 will go to the second, third, and women’s leagues.”
The initiative is part of the GFA’s broader plan to create a more inclusive and well-supported football structure, particularly at the base level where young talents are nurtured.
Colts football, once a vibrant pillar of Ghana’s football pipeline, has seen renewed focus under the current administration, which has consistently stressed its commitment to reviving the sector.
In addition to the Colts support, the parallel investment in Division Two, Division Three, and the Women’s League is expected to bolster club
operations and enhance competitive balance across the divisions.
The GFA continues to roll out these initiatives to ensure sustainable development across the football pyramid.
