Ghana FA Cup Committee Chairman Wilson Arthur has allayed the fears of stakeholders ahead of the round 18 stage matches scheduled this weekend. Mr. Wilson Arthur insists security will be tighten so clubs shouldn’t be afraid of anything.

Genuine concerns have been raised over safety at match venues following a stabbing incident that led to the death of ”Nana Pooley” at Nsuatre in a Ghana premier league game involving Kotoko and Nsoatreman. The fracas which broke out in a division one league game involving Elmina Sharks and Swedru All Blacks defeats any justification of why football must continue. Despite this, MTN FA Cup Chairman, Mr. Wilson Arthur believes necessary security arrangements have been to forestall harm as the competition resumes over the weekend.

“Adequate security measures have been put in place; clubs are on high alert. What i pray will not happen is for us to entertain these fears. There is nothing to be afraid; the teams have prepared well; they have trained well.” (Via ChannelOne TV)

Apart from the Asante Kotoko versus Eleven Wise game the rest of the matches will come off. The weekend round of matches will be a test case for bookmakers who are for or against the continuation of football in the country.
