Accra Lions stunned Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports stadium by securing a 3-0 win over the league contenders. The home side who sat 16th before the game had something up their sleeves no one knew.
Jacob Awoute opened the scoring for the home side, just before half time Yao Sokpoli doubled the lead.
Back from recess, Kotoko pushed for a glimmer of hope but were unsuccessful courtesy strong defensive play by the home side. Accra Lions put the game to bed with a brilliant counterattack. Right back, Fuzy Taylor served Akintunde, who twisted and turned the Kotoko defence before firing home with a ferocious left foot.
Kotoko look threatening onwards with daring runs from substitute Wisdom Bassey and Kwame Poku, but the home side denied the visitors a consolation.
