Newly appointed Technical Director of Asante Kotoko, Abdul Karim Zito, has indicated that he will ask the club to hire an additional assistant coach.

The former Black Satellites gaffer was officially unveiled as Prosper Narteh Ogum’s successor in a press engagement. He will be assisted by former Medeama and Inter Allies coach Prince Owusu.

Following the decision to sack Ogum, Asare Wilson and Abu Imoro formerly left their positions as assistant coaches.

Speaking at the press conference, Zito confirmed he will bring on board another assistant coach to augment his coaching staff.

”It is only in Ghana that we work with a maximum of seven technical staff. In other countries that they visited or went to learn, they always have more,” he said.

Immediately after this press conference, I am going to request for one more assistant. I always like to consult with my assistants before making substitutions. When on the touchline, I would turn to them and discuss to the choice of substitute and other adjustments with them before going ahead,” Zito concluded.

During his playing days, Karim Zito won five league titles, two FA Cups, and the CAF Champions League in 1982 with Asante Kotoko. He recently led Dreams FC to the semifinals of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Karim Zito will be aiming for an immediate impact when Kotoko face Aduana FC in the Matchday 29 clash at the Baba Yara Stadium this Sunday.
