Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is guarding against complacency following resounding victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana currently leads the standings in group I with 15 points from 6 games. A win for Comoros against Chad will the Black Stars with two points lead. Though there is firm hope that Ghana will qualify Coach Otto believes it is not a done deal yet.
“Like I said, it is not done yet. We still have to work hard. This is football, [and] things can turn very fast, and as a national [team] coach, you always have to wait for some months before you can get the team together to play again,” he said.
“I am very happy with the result and the way we played. It’s well deserved, and we are looking forward.
“We can’t change the past. We have to look forward and use this position in which we are now to qualify for the World Cup,” he added.
Ghana has moved five clear of second-placed Madagascar.
The Black Stars who now sit at the top of Group I will now shift their focus to their upcoming qualifiers in September, where they will face Chad away before hosting Mali in Matchday 7 and 8 games.
