Winfred Osei Kweku Palmer has accused the current leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) was for orchestrating the relegation of Tema Youth Football Club from the Ghanaian top division.
The club’s relegation followed a ruling related to their failure to compensate Young Red Bulls after the transfer of Joseph Paintsil to Belgian club KRC Genk.
In addition, the club was ordered by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to pay €150,000 to the GFA, but they refused to comply.
Speaking to Asempa FM, Osei Palmer expressed his disappointment: “I have no regrets about my time in football, even when I was at the hospital, but what bothers me is how certain individuals conspired to relegate the team.”
He went on to say, “It was a bigger project I was doing but I am well and I will keep on preserving regardless of what has happened.”
He further accused members of the GFA of working together to ensure the demise of Tema Youth. and also raised concerns over irregularities during the CAS proceedings, revealing that five different player passports were presented, which he believes were manufactured illegally.
“People at the GFA plotted to relegate Tema Youth. I cannot call out names but I was told the people came together to ensure that Tema Youth does not survive.
“Even when we went to CAS, we had five different player passports which is not right. I know where these player passports were manufactured,” he added.
Tema Youth, based in Tema is known for producing exciting talents such like Thomas Partey,Joseph Paintsil, Michael Leveh and Moses Odjer.
