Mubarak Wakaso is closing in on a move to Accra Hearts of Oak according to grapevine source. His acquisition will be a major boost for Coach Aboubakar Ouattara’s side in the second round of the 2024/2025 Ghana premier league.
Wakaso last played for Chinese Super League side Shenzhen FC in January 2024 after his loan stints with KAS Eupen in Belgium in 2023, making ten appearances for his club.
His signing will draw comparisons with former Black Stars player Sulley Muntari who joined the Phobians in the 2020/2021 season. Wakaso who begun his career with defunct Obuasi Goldfield Academy was ushered into premier league football by their senior side Obuasi Ashantigold. His robust play and the knack of delivering sumptuous set pieces made him a hot cake in Europe culminating in moves to Espanyol, Las Palmas, Villareal, Celtic etc
Wakaso has played 70 times for the Black Stars, scoring 13 goals across the period after making his debut on October 13, 2012.
